Announcements for Oct 22, 2007

Tutorials for any student needing help are in room 105 every morning from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. or after school to 4 p.m. If you need a ride, tell the person on duty in room 105 the day before you attend tutoring and they will arrange for a bus to pick you up and take you home.

 


Pep rally theme is costume party.

 


ACT testing is Saturday at 8 a.m. in the Science department.

 


 

Carter Blood Center will be here Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the annual STUCO blood drive. This year’s theme is a Pint for a Pint. For each student who donates a pint of blood, STUCO will buy them a pint of ice cream. Sign-up sheets are in Mr. Wall’s room. You must be 17-years-old or older to donate.

 


All students and staff who visit Quiznos between now and March 1 will have 10 percent of their tab donated to Junior Pride. Just give your receipt to the server and he or she will place it in an envelope marked Junior Pride. The owner will give a check for 10 percent of the total to Junior Pride to help with prom expenses.

 


In honor or Red Ribbon Week, STUCO asks that students wear hats tomorrow for “Protect your Melon” day.

 


The next FCA breakfast is at 7 a.m. this Friday at the Nolan River Baptist Church. Everyone is invited to attend.

 


National Honor Society new members will meet Wednesday at either 8 a.m. or 3:35 p.m. Induction information will be discussed.

 


Exchangettes are selling “Feed the Fan” tickets for before the football game this Friday. See and Exchangette member if you wish to attend.

 


French Club meets Thursday after school in Madame Dossett’s room. Bring a bag of candy for the service project.

 


Skills USA meets every Thursday at 7:55 a.m.

 


All Beta Club members who forgot to bring their supplies last Thursday may bring them to Mrs. Fort’s room tomorrow only to receive credit of the October service project.

 


All UIL spellers will meet in room 233 Wednesday. Be sure to study page two of the Word Power book for a pre-test.

 


Membership fees are due ASAP for the Spanish Club and the Hispanic Heritage Club. If the fee is not paid by tomorrow, members who still owe fees will not be allowed to vote for officers.

 


Students interested in taking the driving portion of Drivers’ Education in November need to see Coach Zachary in the history department. You must have your driving permit before taking the driving portion. You will begin driving Nov. 12.

 


STUCO is taking donations to help with the medical bills of sophomore Brian Hughes.  Brian was recently diagnosed with a tumor on his thyroid gland and is need of surgery. Unfortunately, the family must have $10,000 in cash as a guarantee before the surgery and necessary tests can take place. The STUCO goal is one thousand dollars or more. Please look deep into your hearts and give generously.

 


It’s time to start thinking about decorating a pumpkin for the annual Library Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The pumpkin should be decorated to look like a book author, literary character or famous person. Dress, paint, or accessorize your pumpkin, but please do not  cut or carve it so it will last longer. Write a poem about your pumpkins. Bring the pumpkin and the poem or limerick to the library on Thursday, Oct. 25. Judging will be held on Oct. 30.

 


FCA will meet tonight night at the Oasis. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. The Parables of Jesus studies will continue. Please attend even if you have not attended before.

 


Mark your calendars for the annual College and Career night presented by the Counseling department which will be Nov. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. All high school students and parents are invited to attend. Financial aid presenters will be on campus that night to discuss aid options.

 


Exit level TAKS retest for ELA is Oct. 23, Math is Oct. 24, Science is Oct. 25 and Social Studies are Oct. 26.

 


 

 

 

Seniors:

 

 

Seniors will meet in the senior section after pep rally Friday to discuss ordering graduation products, senior class calendar, signing diploma cards and visit with Mrs. Mead.

 


Sports:

 

JV and freshmen football plays Aledo Thursday. JV plays at Aledo at 6 p.m. Freshmen gold plays here at 5 p.m. followed by freshmen black at 6:30 p.m.

 

The swim team competes in the Spooktacular meet in Waco on Saturday.

 

Varsity regional tennis tournament is Friday and Saturday in Wichita Falls.

 

Varsity football takes on Aledo here at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Come out and support the Jackets.

 

The cross country teams run in the district meet here Friday at Buddy Stewart Park.

 

 

The Lady Jacket freshmen basketball team scrimmages De Soto and South Grand Prairie here at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29.

 

The JV and Varsity Lady Jackets basketball teams scrimmage Richland, Grandview and Godley here Monday, Oct. 29 with games beginning at 6 p.m.
