Announcements for Oct 17, 2007

STUCO is taking donations to help with the medical bills of sophomore Brian Hughes.  Brian was recently diagnosed with a tumor on his thyroid gland and is need of surgery. Unfortunately, the family must have $10,000 in cash as a guarantee before the surgery and necessary tests can take place. The STUCO goal is one thousand dollars or more. Please look deep into your hearts and give generously.

 


It’s time to start thinking about decorating a pumpkin for the annual Library Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The pumpkin should be decorated to look like a book author, literary character or famous person. Dress, paint, or accessorize your pumpkin, but please do not  cut or carve it so it will last longer. Write a poem about your pumpkins. Bring the pumpkin and the poem or limerick to the library on Thursday, Oct. 25. Judging will be held on Oct. 30.

 


Junior Pride members please pay for your T-shirts by Friday.

 


FCA will meet Monday night at the Oasis. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. The Parables of Jesus studies will continue. Please attend even if you have not attend before.

 


The pep rally theme is color splash.  Seniors wear orange, juniors blue, sophomores wear green and freshmen red.

 


Juniors if you forgot to order you class ring last week, Jostens’ will be on campus during all lunches on Friday.

 


PSAT testing will be Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. in the science wing.

 


The deadline for the $25 National Honor Society dues is Oct. 19. If you are paying cash, place the money in a sealed envelope with your name on the outside. Be sure you name is on the check. See Mrs. Bell in room 210 for further information.

 


HOSA meets tomorrow at 7:45 a.m. in room 9C.

 


Mark your calendars for the annual College and Career night presented by the Counseling department which will be Nov. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. All high school students and parents are invited to attend. Financial aid presenters will be on campus that night to discuss aid options.

 


Exit level TAKS retest for ELA is Oct. 23, Math is Oct. 24, Science is Oct. 25 and Social Studies are Oct. 26.

 


Exit level TAKS tutoring is Oct. 15-18 and Oct. 22.

 


 

 

Seniors:

 

 

Seniors will meet in the senior section after pep rally on Oct. 26 to discuss ordering graduation products, senior class calendar, signing diploma cards and visit with Mrs. Mead.

 


Sports:

 

Varsity tennis begins its district is Friday and Saturday.

 


JV boys’ cross country team runs in the Cedar Hill Meet tomorrow.

 


Boys’ cross country participates in the Gerry Garza meet at Buddy Stewart Park on Saturday.

 


The Lady Jacket volleyball teams play Stephenville there Friday. Game times are 5 and 6 p.m.

 


The freshmen gold and black football teams travel to Stephenville tomorrow. The gold team plays at 5 p.m. followed by the black team at 6:30 p.m.

 


JV football plays Stephenville here tomorrow at 6 p.m.
